Here we go again.... can't we just all get along?

Well, another battle is on.... The WNC GOP vs. Blue NC and Scrutiny Hooligans. I was wondering when the GOP would really start to join the discussion. I guess Carolina Stoppers couldn't get it done so they had to poke their heads out. But hey, we all love to read the blogs - the quiet chuckles of moderate minded folks in this county can be heard everyday. I know I can't help it either, we all need something to laugh about with our friends. My advise is just read them both and enjoy. It will be our secret... Just remember to strike about 3/4 of what you read and TRY to find the logical point in the conversation. If your brave enough to post a comment BEWARE... because as momma says... "ya come between two fightin' dogs, ya gonna get bit."

Buncombe County fashion update- We hear zoning is out this year

The NC court of appeals has overturned county wide zoning. The commissioners will have a special meeting to decide whether or not the appeal the decision. The court said they didn't follow proper procedure and rushed the vote.  oh man....here we go again.  I can't wait to see the runway show of costumes that will be on display during public comment and special meetings in the next few months.  The return of "colorful" language will be exciting to watch this season... don't forget to bring your popcorn.

Breaking News from the Senate

Senator Bayh announced today the creation of a new moderate democratic working group in the Senate. As of now, there are about 12 moderate democrats with a few others quietly supporting the effort. Senator Bayh said "we want to work together with party leaders" to look at the difficult issues in the upcoming budget. They don't have a formal name for the group just yet, but soon to be announced. Senator Bayh said they wanted to work with party leaders on bills before they come to the floor. Bayh said, "the difficulty comes when things are just handed down, without taking to account the point of view of some of us who have a slightly different point of view" He foresees a "cooperative effort moving forward with a few creative differences."

Too many cooks in the kitchen

If the founding fathers intended for every issue to be up for a public vote - they won't have created elected offices. I was driving by the "great wall of Candler" on I-40 and rolled my eyes again. I don't know how many people were involved in that creative process - but I hope the designer of the new I-26 connector (if it ever gets built) will think twice before they add decorative leaves to any concrete surface.
